Consumed by Insatiable Flames

A Poem by Kelly W. Patterson

Entrancing memories within the mist

Once banished darkness from the sky

But now their luminous glow is fading

That sun is dying; leaving only the night

The view is so murky beyond the vapors

Yet the world has drastically changed

Shadowy, familiar feelings return again

Ushered forth by dark nameless wraiths

Mournful inspirations spark new fires

Taking their own place before the mist

Destroying a remorseful heart's dreams

Illuminating sad faces within the mirror

Light that once heralded bright days

Sweeps across everything remorselessly

An unquenchable heat that won't relent

Consumes all the burning flame touches

Good, Bad, or Ugly
